SCREW MACHINE OPERATOR
Position Summary
The Screw Machine Operator is required to support multiple projects and work with cross-functional teams to achieve total customer satisfaction and to continue the ISO 9001 Certification by meeting quality standards and procedures. Under limited guidance follows established procedures to safely operate screw machine and/or other machinery in the most efficient manner to produce a quality part that ultimately results in total customer satisfaction.
Job Functions
- Understand the operation of the screw machine
- Follow set-up operator instructions on assigned machinery to produce quality screw machine parts (includes the removal, replacement, general maintenance of tooling, and maintaining the oil level of the machine)
- Ensure all safety equipment is in place and operate the machine(s) in a safe manner; follow all safety requirements and rules
- Operate two screw machines safely and produce quality parts
- Spin showings in a chip spinner and put oil back in base of the machine
- Perform daily PM’s on machines
- Complete required paperwork (i.e. timecards, routers, and quality check)
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Responsible for all quality requirements of the job
- Responsible for washing parts and placing them in the correct hopper
- Complete all required quality inspections and meet quality requirements for each job performed
- Run machine to established rate
- Assist supervisor(s) in the training of coworkers
- Responsible for eliminating waste, recommending solutions, and problem solving and cost reduction ideas
- ISO 9001 support
- Make tooling adjustments as required
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Operate two machines to produce Quality Parts
- Identification of effective ways to improve machine efficiencies and safety
- Accurate completion of all required paperwork, including but not limited to timecards and routers
- Maintain clean and safe work environment

- Internal and external PPM reduction from previous years
- Minimum high school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years manufacturing experience, including knowledge of machines and functions
- Strong mechanical background and/or ability
- Attend work on a consistent basis during the assigned work hours
- Ability to use various gauges and test equipment such as comparators, micrometers, calipers, and height stands
- Metrology skills in the use of gauges
- Ability to read, write and understand English; ability to understand and follow oral instructions given in English
- Shop level math skills
- SPC training or the ability to learn SPC
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Ability to learn WSC quality and production procedures
- Ability to read blueprints
